Luggage information on flights

THE PROBLEM

The airlines began adding low-cost flights, without luggage, and Despegar.com did not have a system to communicate this information.

We began to have complaints from users and had to design a roadmap to prevent a greater impact. The last stage of the project involved giving the client the possibility of doing an up-selling or buying their additional luggage. 

THE CHALLENGE

The information not only had to be on flights but had to appear in checkout, after-sales and packages (flights + hotels). All these areas were composed by different teams, with different priorities and development times.

THE SOLUTION

I did a benchmark to investigate different ways of displaying this information in clusters. And after several tests we define two possibilities to test in an AB Testing.

RESEARCH

 AB tests that helped us define which format performs better. On the other hand, we surveyed our flight buyers through Survey Monkey. This allowed us to show the business the urgency in which we needed to add upselling and purchase of additional luggage to the flow.
